For the past several months we have put emphasis on stabilizing Cylix and continuing to build on its foundation. While it is still not a pretty tool with its current Spartan looks, our focus, for now, is on feature and functionality over design.
We are firm believers in data privacy and always have put this first when it came to all things information. We do not believe this because we have something to hide, but because it is and should be at the heart of every person’s human rights. First and foremost Cylix must be architecturally and functionally sound.
Modern design is in works and will be available in one of our forthcoming releases. We have been in public beta for a few months and are in the process of accelerating feature releases over the next several months. This release marks the exit from the beta mode for MacOS and Windows version. Due to Linux platform’s quirks, the Linux release is delayed for a few more days. Building for 4 distros with 2 versions each is definitely a challenge, but for the love of Linux, we won’t let it fall behind.
Our purpose is to build an application which allows users to create, store, modify, import and export data in multiple formats while encrypting and decrypting data on the fly and putting application performance in a front seat. Cylix can open a 100Mb Pdf and encrypt/decrypt it in 3-4 seconds. Most desktop and web applications would simply choke when performing such task or take 2-3 minutes to download it from server side or cloud to be accessible.
We have finally fixed that pesky MacOS certificate issue which blocked users from using the application on the platform. The new version comes with an all new Code Editor function to replace the Code Syntax Highlighting from the previous release. It has a new bulk import and export feature to allow our users to save time when loading or unloading data to and from Cylix database. We are a lazy bunch and would do anything to save some time.
We currently support pdf, text, image, WYSIWYG rich text and code snippet documents and will be expanding formats, storage and integration capabilities significantly over the next several releases. Most features for this are already built and will be gradually rolled out in the next 1-2 months.
Stay safe and Happy Cylix!
